ASK THE SHOWER TEAM: “Am I In The Right Place?”

'Wisdom' and Other Words To Live By From a Wet-Behind-The Ears Oracle

There seems to be no shortage of questions floating around these days. Sometimes questions other than my own are offered by friends or visitors to the site with a request that they be posed to The Shower Team.  Or sometimes I may just come across a question that I think is a particularly good one, so now and then I will post those questions–and the Team’s response. I do so, however, with the reminder that The Shower Teams’s responses to most questions always seem surprising in some way.  Maybe it’s as simple as not being quite the answer I really wanted to hear.  If you want to ‘know with the Flow’ apparently you have to be willing to go with the flow.

Or maybe Mick Jagger was right:  “You can’t always get what you want . . . but if you try sometimes, well you just might find, you get what you need. . .”

Q:  Am I in the ‘right’ place in my life?  Am I where I’m supposed to be?

A: You ask the question about whether you are in the “right” place and what is important for you to consider is that there is no right or wrong place. There is only your willingness to align with your desire and the attention you give to the fulfillment of that desire. Any place can be ‘right’ if you are choosing to see it as a place where you can go anywhere you want, if you can view it as simply where you are, and therefore the perfect place from which to go wherever your heart is leading you.

Rather than wonder if the place where you are is appropriate or ‘right’, wonder instead about the fullness and clarity of your desire. For the fact is that as you allow greater and greater clarity about your desire to come, and as you allow yourself to look more and more toward that clarified desire, any place you are becomes exactly ‘right’.

There is a tendency for many of you to see the world around you as outside you . . . to feel it is something external that you must submit to or be subjected to or respond to as needed when in fact the world is in you.  You are the world and therefore no place can be ‘wrong’ no matter how you might be feeling in it. It is only your perception that determines the judgment of it that you are making. When you choose to see differently, that world changes.

This is a time for generosity.  Generosity with others and with yourself. Generosity of spirit.  Generosity of effort. Generosity of allowing where you are to continue to inform your desires and generosity of trust that as your desires become ever clearer, you will continue to move in the ‘right’ direction—which is always in the flow of well being, the current that carries you to your dreams.

Instead of asking, “Am I in the right place?” ask am I seeing what’s right about where I am and is it encouraging me to go toward what calls to me?

If you do this, you can never be in a ‘wrong’ place–only pointed in a direction that contradicts who you really are or what you really want.  Be generous and patient with yourself as you allow clarity to emerge and desires to come forth.  And trust that you cannot get it ‘wrong’.
